Austin Martz needed a mere 32 minutes to net a hat trick as Wilmington Hammerheads FC defeated Miami Fusion of the National Premiere Soccer League 6-nil in the second round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night.

Justin Moose added a ninth-minute goal as Wilmington built an impressive 4-0 advantage heading into halftime. Kyle Parker continued the scoring with a second-half brace to bring the 1,964 fans at Legion Stadium to their feet.

In the 22nd minute, Martz scored his first goal of the game, assisted by newcomer Casey Townsend.

Miami jumped back into the game with more offensive control the second half, but Eric Ati made two close saves on net, including a breakaway from Monty Berrow to keep the clean sheet.

Parker tallied his first goal of the season in the 77th minute off an assist from Peabo Doue. Wilmington finished with 12 shots on goal, while Parker tallied for the second time in the match just before the end of regulation to secure the dominating result.

Wilmington heads to Miami on June 1 when they take on Miami FC of the North American Soccer League (NASL) for the third round in the Open Cup tournament.

The Hammerheads get back to their United Soccer League (USL) schedule with a home match against Charleston Battery on Saturday, May 21. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Legion Stadium.
