Major Martin White, 76, of Ash, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, after an illness. He was born in Ash on January 21, 1940, to Pink White and Lennie Hewett White.
He was owner of Major White Construction and was employed as director of the Brunswick County Landfill for many years. Major enjoyed camping and playing cards, especially Texas Hold’em. He will be missed by his large circle of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie White; and stepson, Paul Clewis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice White; sons, Keith White, and his wife, Nancy, of Ash; Mark White, and his wife, Alison, of Leland and Terry White, and his wife, Nancy, of Chapel Hill; daughter, Angie White of Ash; stepdaughter, Paula Clewis Hines of Fort Knox, Ky.; sister, Leona Fernside of Ash; and eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Burial will be in Griffin Cemetery. Mr. White’s grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
