Ronald Lee Bridges, 70, of Carolina Beach, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born September 17, 1945, in Shelby to the late Floyd Bridges and Dare Dettmar Bridges.

Ronald served his country as an infantryman in the U.S. Army. He was a loyal, Christian servant and member of Faith Baptist Church, Bolivia. He was an avid golfer and the unofficial mayor of Swordfish Lane, Carolina Beach. His favorite saying was, ‘I can’t wait till tomorrow, because I get better looking every day.’

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara Bridges; daughter, Alesa Bridges; son, Sheldon Bridges; stepchildren, Sheri Poe, and her husband, Daryl, Dawn Lowe, and her husband, David, and Chadd Smith, and his wife, Traci; siblings, Lewis and Paula Bridges, Richard and Deanne Wallace and Jack and Trish Bridges; grandchildren, Katherine, Matthew, Michael, Kirstie, Karis, Allison, Austin, Chloe and Joshua; and one great-grandchild, Kenadee.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, at Texas Avenue Beach Access, Carolina Beach. A reception will follow at Coastal Community Church, 407 N. 8th St., Carolina Beach. Casual dress is requested.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
