A Wilmington woman has been charged in a midday shooting that began as an altercation inside a local nail salon.
Shalindra Nicole Williams, 23, was arrested Saturday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied or moving vehicle, and discharging a firearm in the city, which is a violation of city ordinance, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.
Williams was charged with a shooting in the parking lot of the Oleander Plaza shopping center in the 1900 block of Oleander Drive at about 1 p.m. March 14, Lindsay said.
Several women were in an altercation at the nail salon in the shopping center, when the owner told them to leave the store, Lindsay said. The argument continued outside the salon in the parking lot. As the female victim attempted to leave in her car, the suspect fired one shot from her vehicle and drove away from the scene.
The shot hit the victim’s vehicle on the passenger side just below the window. The victim, who was uninjured, drove away and called 911 to report the shooting to police, Lindsay said.
Williams was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $17,000 secured bond.
