Elsie Mae Benton Sikes, 85, of Wilmington, died on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was born in Wilson County on October 27, 1930.

She was the widow of Bob Sikes. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amanda Benton; brothers, Donald Benton and Earl Benton; and sisters, Henrietta Goodman and Dorothy Batts.

She was a member of Oleander Church, being a United Methodist, and served God and all with love. She was a certified nursing assistant, giving care to patients at Cape Fear Hospital, and later, private care through Elder Care.

She is survived by one daughter, Amy Sikes of the home; and one sister, Helen Dunn of Asheboro.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at noon with Rev. Tara Lain officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oleander United Methodist Church, 5810 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
