Bronza D. Kiger, 81, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice surrounded by her family. Born September 13, 1934, in Reidsville, she was a daughter of the late John Dockery and Rosa Walker Dockery.
Bronza had many special skills: catering, baking, floral design and an extreme love for golf, crocheting, bowling and fishing. She was known by many as the ‘Crocheting Lady.’ She spent many hours crocheting prayer shawls for the sick, hats for the children at St. Jude, and gifts for friends, students and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton G. Kiger.
Bronza is survived by her twin daughters, Leslie Kiger and Laura K. Segers (Marcus); grandchildren, Ryleigh Dixon, and husband, Chris, and Stafford Segers; great-granddaughter, Kirklyn Mae Dixon; her loving dog, Cissy Leigh; and numerous extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory, Market Street. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bronza’s name to Wesleyan Chapel UMC, 10255 U.S. Highway 17 North, Wilmington, NC 28411; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
