Anna Laura Martin, 95, answered her heavenly Father’s call on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
Anna Laura was born October 12, 1920, in Wilmington, where she was raised and educated. After graduation from NH High School she attended Flora McDonald College, now St. Andrews College. Later, she was employed with Foster-Hill Realty, where she retired after 34 years as bookkeeper. She was a member and past president of Cape Fear Chapter of ABWA and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. She always looked forward to a game of Bridge and enjoyed knitting for Guidepost ‘Knit for Kids.’
She was the eldest daughter of David J. and Anna N. Padrick, who with her sister, Mary Elizabeth Aiken, preceded her in death. She was the widow of Rudy Martin.
Anna Laura is survived by her daughter, Anna N. Benton, and her husband, George; two granddaughters, Barbara Pickett, and her husband, Keith, and Leslie Dunbar; two great granddaughters, Lauren Preston and Megan Pickett; and one great-great-granddaughter, Addisyn Preston.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Devon Park United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Bill Adams and the Rev. William Pearsall. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Pickett, Jimmy Sidbury, Robbie Bowell, Adam Butcher, Kenny Stoots and Andy Benton.
Memorial gifts may be made to Devon Park United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the charity of one’s choice.
