Ralph Balser, 73, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Ralph was born in Baltimore, Md., on September 23, 1942.
Beloved son of the late Leon and Rose Balser, he was the devoted brother of the late Harold Balser and the late Rona Bazerman.
Ralph was a graduate of the University of Maryland and worked as a systems analyst. He settled in Wilmington in 2003 after living in many places throughout Europe and the United States.
Ralph enjoyed volunteering during his retirement, especially with Habitat for Humanity, WARM, New Hanover County Senior Center and pledge week at WHQR radio station. Ralph enjoyed backgammon, puzzles and conversation, and he knew every place in town that serves Guinness on tap.
He is loved and remembered by all, especially by his loving wife, Ellen Bush Balser, and his daughters, Tanya Balser of Dumont, N.J., and Justine Tordoff (Yan) of London, England. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, three sisters-in-law and friends. His family and friends will always have many wonderful memories and he will live in their hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at the Temple of Israel, 1 S. 4th St., Wilmington, officiated by Rabbi Paul Sidlofsky. A reception will follow the service. There will be a Shiva service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the family residence.
