Barbara Dehart Young, 83, of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at her home after a courageous two-and-a-half year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Young began working in the administrative offices at Corning in 1969 and retired in 1993. She was a member of College Acres Baptist Church and Bobby Neal’s Sunday School Class.

She was born in Wilmington on April 6, 1933, the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Dehart. Also remembered are a son, Kenneth L. Young; and a brother, James Dehart, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Herbert L. Young Jr.; daughter, Pamela Young Teague, and her husband, Roger; two sons, David A. Young, and his wife, Danette, and Michael W. Young, and his wife, Jennifer; five grandchildren, Matthew R. Teague, and his wife, Lynda K. Teague, Eryn Teague, and her fiance, Eli Johnson, Alyssa J. Young, Bailey R. Young and Ryan M. Young; great-grandchild, Jack R. Teague; sister, Betty Anderson; two brothers, Harry Dehart, and his wife, Jean, and Fred Dehart, and his wife, Julie; sister-in-law, Betty Dehart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at College Acres Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Keat officiating. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
