Danny Wayne Decker Jr., 26, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, in Lewisville. He was born on August 22, 1989, in Cumberland County.
Wayne was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He had many talents and skills, including drawing, writing, carpentry and he loved playing the guitar. Other hobbies included golfing, fishing, bowling and reading.
He will be remembered for his eyes, which lit up when he laughed, for his kind and generous heart and ability to make everyone around him laugh without saying a word. Everyone who knew him appreciated his unique sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, Travis Mallard.
Wayne is survived by his parents, Danny Wayne Decker Sr. and Ruth Mallard Decker; three sisters, Ashley Cowan, and her husband, Brian Cowan, Cassie Decker and Lindsey Decker; maternal grandmother, Iris Mallard; paternal grandmother, Linda Buie; paternal grandfather Paul Rogers, and his wife, Janet; and aunts and uncles, Dawn and Kelly Galloway, Dee and Tony Hill, Tammy and Gene Hall, Glenn Decker, Missy and Philip Johnson, Johnny Rogers and a very special uncle and aunt, David and Brenda Mallard, who were like second parents to him and loved and treated him like he was their own son.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Brookfield Church of God, 131 Elliot Drive, Wilmington, officiated by the Revs. Timothy Cowan, Doug Perry and Kenneth Smith. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 6 p.m. prior to the service.
