Russell Barden Long, 78, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born in Wilmington on January 24, 1938, to Lonnie Elmer Long and Dorothy Rushing Long.
Russell was former owner of Sea Port Electrical Company. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from June 28, 1955, to January 21, 1959.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Felton and Ronnie Long.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Edwards Long; two sons, Russell B. Long Jr. and Terry Dean Long; one daughter, Donna Danette England; five grandchildren, Kim Mills, Kellie Capps, Matthew Long, Luke Barnes and Cooper Barnes; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Olivia, Hunter, Wyatt and Mattie; one sister, Eugie Daniels (Sidney); and sister-in-law, Doris R. Long.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, in Greenlawn Memorial Park officiated by Russell’s nephew, the Rev. Dean Walker.
Memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
