Mary Frances ‘Mae’ Picone, 90, enjoyed being active in the Senior Center Craft Group

Mary Frances ‘Mae’ Picone, 90, of Wilmington, died Thursday, April 28, 2016. Born September 22, 1925, in Glendale, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Herman Bohnhorst and Mary Starin Bohnhorst.

She was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved the time she spent with her family. Mae loved working with crafts and enjoyed being active in the Senior Center Craft Group, where she made many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cono Michael Picone; her grandson, Christopher Perrone; and one sister and two brothers.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Marie Perrone, and her husband, Bob; three sons, Michael Picone, and his wife, Catherine, Thomas Picone, and his wife, Mari, and Richard Picone; grandchildren, Bobby Perrone, Mary Shaye Picone, Thomas Picone, Lauren Holifield and Nicholas Picone; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Kenny. Mae was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mae’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation.
