Oswell Jerome ‘O.J.’ Jenrette, 86, enjoyed hunting and fishing

Oswell Jerome ‘O.J.’ Jenrette, 86, of Ash, died peacefully on Friday, 29, 2016, at Universal Healthcare. He was born on December 29, 1929, in Ash, a son of the late John Ellis and Bertie Lee Jacobs Jenrette.

Mr. Jenrette enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of Soldier Bay Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Jenrette, in 2002.

Surviving are his three sons, Tim Jenrette, of Jackson, Miss., Johnny Jenrette of Wilmington and Jimmy Jenrette of Calabash; three daughters, Vicky Sullivan, of Florence, Bertie Dean Davis of Boiling Spring Lakes and Candy Wescott of Bolivia; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Jimmie Jenrette’s home, 9151 Oak Ridge Plantation Drive, Calabash. Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, in Brunswick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charlie Smith the Rev. Jason L. Benton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Casketbearers will be Ronnie Babson, Phil Osterloh, Gary Hooks, Michael Jenkins, David Yarboro and David Autry. Honorary casketbearers will be the Soldier Bay Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
