Thurman ‘Bruce’ Peele, 54, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 22, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Ellis Peele.

Bruce was born in Fayetteville February 22, 1962, and had worked for UNCW as a landscape associate. He attended Calvary Chapel of Wilmington and had played the drums on the worship team. He loved all sports, especially football, and was an avid Duke fan. He had a love of animals, especially his dogs, Sam and Jasmin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Bruce Peele; and stepson, Timothy Ellis Jr.

In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his mother, Rebecca Tew Peele of Wake Forest; stepdaughter, Stephanie Ellis, and her fiancé, Tim Day of Durham; and sister, Janice Paradowski, and her husband, Jay, of Wake Forest, and their children, Alina and Jamison Paradowski.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Calvary Chapel, 2831 Carolina Beach Road. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Clay Ritter officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, in Lafayette Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Shan Towns officiating.

Gifts in Bruce’s memory may be sent to the Calvary Chapel or flowers will be accepted.
