James William ‘Bill’ Kenan, 76, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother

James William ‘Bill’ Kenan, 76, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Born December 30, 1939, in Duplin County, he was a son of the late Arthur McKinley Kenan and Ethel Cottle Kenan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Dean Kenan; granddaughters, Brittney Kenan and Sarah Kempton; brother, Marvin McKinley Kenan; and sisters, Peggy K. Teachey and Ann K. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vivian Kay Kenan; children, Art Kenan, Randy Kenan, and his wife, Miriam, Tammy Denning, and her husband, Mark, Edwina Rose,  and her husband, Rodney, and Sonya Johnston and her husband, Chris; grandchildren, Marcus, Henley, Hampton, Taylor, Griffin and Wilson; one great-grandchild, Chloe; siblings, Loleta K. Powell, A.C. Kenan and Libby K. Beasley; and sister-in-law, Patsy Kenan.

Bill is remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pender County Library, Hampstead Branch, 75 Hampstead Library Road, Hampstead, NC 28443; or the charity of choice.
