Rebecca ‘Becky’ Raney Tucker, 64, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at home.

Becky was born on August 12, 1951, at Carolina Beach to the late James and Betty Raney. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Raney Jr.; and a niece, Margaret Elizabeth Harvey.

Becky is survived by her husband of 46 years, Hiram; four daughters, Carolyn Philip (Scott), Katherine Wallin, Sandra Godbey and Sybil Tucker; six grandchildren, Scottie and Caitlin Philip, Leah and Charlie Wallin and Lily and Raney Godbey; sisters, Jane Harvey and Susan Harris; aunt, Peggy Russell; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Sammy.

After raising her family, Becky obtained a degree in nursing. She dedicated 22 years as a registered nurse in the mother and baby unit at NHRMC. She loved her profession, music, plants, nature, cooking and playing piano. But above all, she loved her family.

Becky was a kind and gentle soul. She will always be remembered for her strength, courage, kindness and intelligence.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Andrews Valley Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, at Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
