Bonnie May Caneer Culp, 89, enjoyed friendship and laughter with Cape Fear Country Club Lunch Bunch is your source for free news and information in the Wilmington area.

Bonnie May Caneer Culp, 89, peacefully departed her earthly home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, and danced into the arms of her beloved Harold.

She was born May 1, 1926, daughter of the late Bertha Weaver Adams and W.T. Caneer Jr. in Senath, Mo. She was preceded in death by her sisters Nell Armstrong and Jean Watson; and a special niece, Sandy Patterson.

Bonnie and Harold shared a life that took them to places near and far in this country and beyond. Of course, there’s no place like home. Wrightsville Beach has been home to them for the last 25-plus years. Bonnie loved the beach and supported the local community, attending the Board of Aldermen meetings and participating in the beach’s Clean Sweep program. She enjoyed golfing with her women’s group and practicing her technique in the living room with an unseen, but real, club. The Lunch Bunch group at Cape Fear Country Club gave her great pleasure, eating and laughing together, supporting one another over the years.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Bonnie was in her element when her ‘littlest angels’ were around! Each grandchild and most recently, each great-grandchild, was held in her arms with incomparable love and affection. As the children grew, she had a wonderful way of captivating them as she danced, played, sang and laughed her way into their hearts and lives. ‘G.G.’ was always up for a game, a song, a joke, a laugh and an adventure!

She is survived by her daughter, Jeneane Culp Tadlock, and her husband, Donald; son, David Culp, and his wife, Yvonne; sister, Elaine Goldsmith; brother, W.T. Caneer III; grandchildren, Tara Culp Lain (Doug), Alicia Culp Morris (Tyler), Stephanie Tadlock Sniffen (Richie), Matthew Culp (Amanda), Melissa Tadlock Lawrence (Scott), Donald Tadlock Jr. (Meghan) and Hunter Tadlock; and 13 great-grands, the ‘littlest angels,’ and loves of her life!

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Oleander United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Tara Culp Lain and the Rev. Doug Lain. The family will receive visitors at Bonnie’s home following the service.

The family is appreciative for the support and kindnesses shown during this time. For those wishing to offer memorials, please make them to Oleander UMC, 5810 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403; Wrightsville UMC, 4 Live Oak Dr., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480; Lower Cape Fear Hospice; or simply offer a kindness, a gift from the heart, to someone you meet today.
