Carol Ann Sloan, 70, of Southport, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Mrs. Sloan was born April 12, 1946, in Danbury, Conn., the daughter of Otto and Alice Rehmet.

She returned to college at age 50 and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill at age 53. Mrs. Sloan was an artist who enjoyed painting landscapes; she was very detail-oriented, with every detail having to be just right. Carol enjoyed traveling; she and her husband had traveled throughout Europe many times. Other passions included gardening, bike riding, and her love for animals, including her two pugs and two cats.

Mrs. Sloan is survived by her husband of 44 years, Albert Sloan; and daughter Tricia Harris, and her husband, Anthony, of Southport.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Ferguson officiating.
