Due to inclement weather, Tuesday’s baseball game with East Carolina has been canceled and will not be made up.

The Seahawks visit High Point on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. start before returning to Brooks Field and kicking off a seven-game home stand on Friday, April 15 with East Tennessee State. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.

UNCW speedster Steven Linkous was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week after helping the Seahawks to four wins, including a conference road sweep at William & Mary on Sunday.  He hit .526 during the stretch.

For Linkous, it was his second recognition by the league after being named Player of the Week following the opening week of play.

Linkous tied a career-high with four hits in UNCW’s 6-1 win in the finale against the Tribe. He had at least two hits in each game last week, scored four runs and knocked in three, including the eventual game-winner in Friday’s 2-1 win over W&M. The former North Brunswick High School product added a pair of stolen bases and is second in the conference with 19 swipes this season.

Entering Wednesday’s contest at High Point, the Leland native has a career-long 10-game hitting streak intact and has reached base safely in each of his last 15 games. He also leads UNCW with a .402 batting average, 47 hits and 36 runs scored.
