George Alexander Riley Sr., 79, of Wilmington, died on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. Born in Wilmington on January 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Alexander and Queenie Kennedy Riley.
George was a truck driver for Old Dominon Company for over 25 years. He enjoyed working for the Salvation Army while helping out families and feeding the public. He was a member of the Living Word Fellowship Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Wescott Riley; daughter; Sandra R. Murry; son-in-law, Richard Murry; son; George A. Riley Jr.; and sisters; Annie May, Lillian and Nellie May.
He is survived by one son; Daniel Riley Sr., and his wife, Pamela, of Chattanooga Tenn.; three daughters, Karin Webber of Rockingham, Jaileen McDuffie, and her husband, Sherrow, of Aurora and Donna Estep, and her husband, Jared, of Wilmington; 13 grandchildren, Daniel Riley Jr., Mollie Phillips, and her husband, Jordon, Grace, Angel, Timothy, Davida, Matthew, William, Starr, Luke, Ja’Shawn, Jessia, Gina, Jared Jr. and Joshua; two great-great-grandchildren, Alexus and Ryan; and one brother, Willie Garriss of Wilmington.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, at The Living Word Fellowship Church. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the church with the Rev. Bobby Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Wilmington.
