Donia Pusey, 81, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Davis Healthcare of Cambridge Village. Born September 15, 1934, in Augusta County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Jack and Henkle Grove.
Donia graduated from James Madison College in 1955 with a B.A. in education. She taught elementary school in Virginia for more than 10 years. As an avid reader and teacher, she instilled a love of books in her children and students. She taught preschool at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Midlothian, Va., in her later years. Donia was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, where she served on the Altar Guild and participated in other charitable functions.

As a loving and devoted mother, she encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their goals. She was an empathetic listener and a deep thinker. Her handwritten book of treasured thoughts and poems is a wonderful legacy for her family. Donia was devoted to her friends, family, and most importantly, to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles ‘Jerry’ Pusey.
Donia is survived by her daughter, Beth High, and her husband, Staffan; son, Steve Pusey; four grandchildren, Hallie and Ian High and John and Caroline Pusey; sister, Jere Fitzgerald, and her husband, Buck; nephew, Mark Pusey; and nieces, Michele Lawson, Kristy Gilliam and Kim Crawford.
