Earl Swinson, 86, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, after a brief illness. He was born on September 23, 1929, in Jacksonville.

Earl served proudly in the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. He was a CPA for over 40 years and loved his work. Earl was active in the community, serving on numerous boards, including NHRMC Board of Trustees, board of directors for the N.C. Association of CPA’s and church boards as well.

Earl was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey and Jay Swinson.

Earl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Belva; his son, John, 56; two granddaughters, Tiffany Hewlett (Mike) and Candice Swinson; three great-grandchildren, Mariah, Austin and Nate; one brother, Robert (Virginia); and one sister, Ruby Padgett.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6th and Market streets in Wilmington.
