Rodney Martin ‘Rod’ Manifold, 87, active in his community and devoted to family

Rodney Martin ‘Rod’ Manifold, 87, of Carolina Shores, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Myrtle Beach Manor Myrtle Beach.

He was born in York, Pa., on June 8, 1928, the son of the late Hugh G. Manifold and Mildred Martin Manifold.

Mr. Manifold retired from the U.S. Army. His career started as an enlisted soldier, and he retired as a major. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. An Eagle Scout, he was a member of St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte, Shallotte Masonic Lodge No. 727 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He was very active in his community, and most of all, devoted to his loving family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Donald Manifold.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Smith Manifold of the home; son, William Manifold, and his wife, Naomi Ruth, of Gloucester, Va.; daughter, Diana M. Stockhausen, and her husband, Rick, of Enterprise, Ala.; two sisters, Lois Snyder of Lewes, Del., and Barbara Bair, and her husband, Arthur, of Burke, Va.; four grandchildren, Erin Stockhausen, Megan Stockhausen, Robert Stockhausen and Thomas Stockhausen; several nieces and nephews; and special companion, his dog, Wags.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday April 9, at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
