Annie Lois Barber, 58, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, of cancer. Mrs. Barber was a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Wilmington for over 20 years.
She attended Choctaw High School, Choctaw, Okla., and received B.A. degree from Oklahoma State University. Ms. Barber was a member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her church family, reading, watching T.V., shopping and dining out.
She was preceded in death by parents, Elmer Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Pruitt Jr. and Annie Pauline ‘Polly’ Pruitt; and grandparents, Elmer Rudolph Pruitt Sr., Pearl Parker Pruitt, Burrell Jasper ‘Jap’ and Elma Lanier Williamson.
She is survived by her sisters, Beth Williamson (Darren Poe) of Wilmington and Renee Watson (Jerry) of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Eric Pruitt (Kim) of Denver, Colo.; nieces, Ashleigh Closen of Columbia, S.C., and Karena, Erica and Sonja Pruitt of Denver, Colo.; nephews, Tripp Laursen of Columbia, S.C., and Alan Lockamy of Wilmington; great-nephew, Camden Closen of Columbia, S.C.; adopted family, Cindy and Lionel Cross and children, Greg, Jay, Stephanie Dawn and Amber of Blair, Okla.; aunts and uncles, John and Evelyn Pruitt of Choctaw, Okla., Parker and Betty Pruitt of Elgin, S.C., Jane Teague of Raleigh, Faye Little of Ocala, Fla., and Burl and Connie Williamson of Clinton; and many cousins, extended family and dear friends, Connie Roderick, Betty Parsons and Dillon Hennessee, to mention only a few.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, at Scotts Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scotts Hill Loop Road, Wilmington. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in Clinton City Cemetery, West Main St., Clinton.
