Jackie M. Shaw, 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. He was born in Hoke County on July 12, 1935, son of the late Lonnie Stamp Shaw and Mary Jackson Shaw.
Jackie served his country in the U.S. Army for four years. After his service, he continued working as a police officer for the Carolina Beach Police Department for a few years. He continued working in law enforcement for the Wilmington Police Department for 32 years until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Clemon Shaw.
Jackie is survived by his son, Jodi M. Shaw, and his wife, Tammy Shaw; lovely granddaughter, Jenna Shaw; daughter, Susan Brundage, and her husband, Steve Brundage, and his children, Alexis Brundage, Steven Basinger and Adam Brundage.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1700 Midway Road S.E., Bolivia, NC 28422. Military honors will follow with the Wilmington Police Honor Guard officiating.
