Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Castle Hayne man for allegedly secretly peeping at a girl and taking photos.
Barry Kevin Wright, 42, was arrested at the Holiday Inn Express on Van Campen Boulevard at about 5 a.m. Friday, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer.
The sheriff’s office was informed Thursday that Wright allegedly had nude photographs of the child on his phone, Brewer said. Detectives took out arrest warrants and a “be on the lookout” was issued for Wright’s car was issued by law enforcement, Brewer said.
Wilmington police found his vehicle Thursday evening at the Holiday Inn Express. When Wright walked out of his hotel room early Friday morning, he was met with law enforcement and arrested on site.
Wright faces charges of felony secret peeping and indecent liberties with a child. According to an arrest warrant, he is charged with taking pictures of a 12-year-old girl while she was undressing for a bath without her knowledge on March 30. The child victim is known to Wright.
Wright was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled for a first appearance in New Hanover County District Court on Monday.
