Fulton Hill and Alex Sniffen plated two runs on a pair of sacrifice flies in the top of the first to grab an early 2-0 lead. Ashley answered in the bottom of the frame when Evan Laverick came around to score the Screaming Eagles’ only run of the ball game. Laverick finished with two hits in the effort.

New Hanover rallied for three more in the third to put the game in check as Pecoraro helped his own cause with an RBI single.

Callahan Klos suffered the loss. He let up all five runs – four earned – on three hits and three walks. Price King kept Ashley in the game with four scoreless innings of relief.

The Wildcats kept pace in league play, behind only West Brunswick and Topsail among division leaders. They moved to 5-0 on the road this season. Ashley dropped to 1-2 in conference and 5-8 on the year.
