Hoggard 11 New Hanover 2
Nia Green hit a two-run shot in the second as Hoggard plated seven runs in the inning as part of an 11-2 victory against New Hanover on Tuesday.
Mikaela Himes plated the Wildcats’ two runs with a single in the fourth.
The Vikings moved to 3-2 in the division and 6-4 overall. New Hanover dropped to 1-3 in conference and 5-5 on the year.
Laney 5 Ashley 1
Laney broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the fifth to pick up a 5-1 win against Ashley on Tuesday.
Savannah Capabianco led an 11 hit attack for the Bucs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Makayla Berry smacked a double and finished with two runs batted in. Tristen Horrell added two hits and Paige Cruse struck out five on the stripe.
Laney evened their record to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference. Ashley fell to 3-5 on the year and 2-2 in league play.
Hoggard 4 New Hanover 0
Hoggard continued its unbeaten run through conference play following a 4-0 shutout against New Hanover.
Siara Southerland tallied twice, while Karen Juarez and Aimee Darrow scored in the result. Emma Haywood had two assists for the Vikings, who moved to 3-0 in the division and 7-1-1 on the year.
Laney 3 Ashley 2
Three different players found the back of the net for Laney on Tuesday night as the Bucs earned a 3-2 result against Ashley.
Baley Edwards, Anna Rae Porcelli and Haley Shand each scored for the Bucs. Alex Butorovich picked up an assist and Sydney Young made eight saves in net. Laney had 15 shots on goal.
Izzy Lytle and Tess Cairney had goals for Ashley.
“It was a tough game with some excellent and aggressive play on both sides of the ball,” said Ashley Coach Greg Marinich. “Each team had many opportunities, but in the end Laney put in the one that counted. I’m extremely proud of our team and their effort tonight. Although we didn’t get the result we were looking for, we showed a great deal of grit and desire and I’ll take that any day.”
The Bucs moved to 4-0 in Mideastern Conference play and 7-1-1 overall. Ashley dropped to 1-1 in the division and 4-3-1 on the season.
