Zoerra ‘Zoe’ Smith Whittington, 40, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 23, 2016, in Wilmington. She was born December 25, 1975, in Wilmington to Joseph and Iris Smith.

Although she experienced significant depression throughout her life, Zoe was best known for her outgoing and fun-loving personality. Her love of music, especially punk rock, took her to unknown heights, allowing her to dance and express her strong and quirky energy.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Zoe is survived by her husband, James Whittington; sons, Dylan Stallings and Byron Whittington; mom and stepdad, Iris and Jeff Baker; dad, Joseph Smith; step-grandmother, Joyce Baker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
