Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Dann George, 81, died Friday, March 25, 2016, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Libby was a devoted daughter, wife and mother to her family and the most phenomenal caregiver for her daughter, Laura. She always focused on others’ needs, rarely her own, and never hesitated to share her faith and love for her savior.
She was a clinical laboratory scientist, previously referred to as medical technologist, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. After her retirement in 1998, she was often seen at the YMCA. She enjoyed both water and seated-aerobic pre-core machines that were included in the Livestrong Cancer Survival Program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Dann and Thomas ‘T.C.’ Dann; her husband, E.W. George; her beloved daughter, Laura George; and brother, Tom Dann.
Surviving are sons, Ralph, Jeff, and his wife, Ruby, and Larry, and his wife, Patty.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at First Christian Church, 2035 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday March 31, at the church.
