Mozelle Dixon Markiton, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 21, 2016, at her residence. She was born February 20, 1924, in Verona, the daughter of William Thomas Dixon and Annie Beasley Dixon.

Throughout her life, she was always trying to help others. She loved to sew and was an expert seamstress and repaired many pieces of clothing for others, never expecting anything in return. She loved to play the guitar in her youth and the harmonica to the young age of 92. She was a devoted Christian and loved all people and helped all those that she could. She spoke truth and never deviated from her faith. She put God first and foremost and loved to sing hymns. Her favorite book was the Bible, and she read it faithfully every day and many times over; she encouraged others to do the same. One of her very favorite things to do was to play Scrabble; she was a tough one to beat.

She was the beloved mother of the late Roy Lee Ramsey Jr. and Catherine Ramsey Lennon, Daniel Ramsey, Alice Ramsey DeMart and Oral Ramsey, all surviving. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Roy Lee Ramsey Sr., Alton J. Ramsey and Joseph Markiton, and five sisters and two brothers. She had numerous other beloved family members and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Peace Baptist Church with Pastor Rudy Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery.

Mozelle was a lady of compassion and dearly loved her family. We will hold close all the good memories and keep them in our hearts.
