Yancy Franklin Simmons, 60, of Bolivia, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Whiteville on July 15, 1955, he was the son of Rosie King Evans of the home and the late Calvin Franklin Simmons. He was an avid card player and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Geraldine Simmons Riley of Fayetteville, Wanda Evans Robeson of Supply and Wendy Evans Ramos of Bolivia; two nieces, Angela Martinez of Fayetteville and Alejandra Ramos of Bolivia; three nephews, DeWayne Ottaway of Fayetteville, Victor Ramos of Bolivia and Isaiah Robeson of Supply; a great-niece, Gabrielle Martinez of Fayetteville; and a great-nephew, Michael Martinez of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in the chapel of White Funeral & Cremation Service, Shallotte, with the Rev. Bobby Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Ash.
