Maelyn Hope Flores “Monkey” passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, at the age of 17 months, she was surrounded by her loving mother and family.

Sadly, Maelyn spent her last days at the Betty Cameron’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital because of her rare condition called Semi-Lobar Holoprosencephaly. Maelyn had defied all odds for the last 17 months in her struggle with this illness.

Maelyn is preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Charles Frankenberger; and her great-great grandmother, Louise Westmoreland.

Maelyn is survived by her mother, Angelica Flores; grandparents, Andrea and Enrique Flores; great-grandparents, Patricia Frankenberger and Ricki Miles and Maria Westmoreland and William Westmoreland; great-aunt, Charlene Hall, and great-uncle Brandon Hall, and great-aunt Ana Funk; godmother, Katherine McIntyre; cousins, Matthew McIntyre and Arianna Hall; and other loving family members, Richard Wrenn, Rita Blake, Skylar Flores, Jesse Dixon and many more.

Maelyn is also survived by the loving arms of the Beach Community Church, where she was known as the ‘Miracle Baby’ to Pastor Tim and Michelle Russell, as well as the whole congregation.

A service to celebrate Maelyn’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Beach Community Church, 5 N. 4th St., Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Inurnment will be held in the family plot at the Oakdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Maelyn to the Beach Community Church, 5 N. 4th Street Carolina Beach, NC 28428, and are greatly appreciated.
