Roy Emerson Barclay, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Johnstown, Pa., on October 17, 1921, to Clarence L. Barclay and Florence H. Barclay. His sister, Lois B. Keenan, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Merritt Barclay; his four children, Dr. Scott Barclay of Denver, Colo., Nanette Barclay, Cary, Nancy B. McCorvey of Wilmington and Janice B. Lanier (Devaul) of Clayton; and five grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Penn State University and served in Rouen, France, during World War II. His career in materials management was spent working with corporations in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area. He and his wife retired to Wilmington in 1984 to enjoy playing golf and to be near the ocean with his family.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Andrews Market Street Chapel, Wilmington. Prior to the service, visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
