A toddler has been identified as the victim of a fatal fire Thursday at a mobile home in Supply.

Fire crews in Brunswick County responded to a structure fire at 696 Sandy Bluff Drive in Supply just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner. The units arrived on scene within minutes and found a single-wide mobile home engulfed in flames.

While fire crews were working to suppress the fire, 16-month-old Violet Rose Emmino was rescued from the burning home, Garner said. The child was transported to Brunswick Novant Medical Center where she later died.

Firefighters battled the fire until about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Garner said. Fire crews from Tri-Beach, Civietown, Bolivia and Supply fire departments responded to the scene, along with Brunswick County EMS and Coastline Rescue Squad.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.  As of Friday, the investigation was still ongoing.
