Rebecca Pearl ‘Becky’ Carson Chambers fell into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 87.

Becky was born on October, 27, 1928, in Washington, Pa., to her loving parents, William and Sarah Carson. She grew up in Washington, Pa., and graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., where she met her future
husband, Alex Chambers. They married in 1950 and shortly thereafter moved to the Washington D.C. area, where Al started the A.H. Chambers masonry construction business with Becky providing administrative assistance.

Becky later received her realtor’s license, became a real estate broker, and started Chambers Realty of Bethesda, Md. Al and Becky moved to Wilmington in 2006. Becky and Al were married 59 years, until Al’s passing in 2009. Becky loved the beach and spent many happy hours with family and friends at Bethany Beach, Del., and Ocean Isle. She also loved music and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. Becky was known for her outgoing personality, hospitality and her love of entertaining.

Becky is survived by her three children, William (Bill) Chambers, and his wife, Sandra, of Leland; daughters Dr. Christine Chambers of Gaithersburg, Md., and Susanne Chambers of Fort Collins, Colo., and Wilmington; one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Chambers) Meyers, and her husband, Sean Myers, Leland. She is also survived by her close cousin, Robert Williams, and his wife, Barbara Williams, of Wilmington; as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A graveside service took place on February 27 in West Alexander, Pa. A memorial celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Kenan Chapel in Landfall.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in her name may be made to the Westminster College Scholarship Fund: Westminster College Development Office, Room 106, New Wilmington, PA 16172.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Cape Fear Hospice for making her last weeks as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible.
