Franklin Meehan Pinkerton Jr., age 83, of Calabash and formerly of Sharon Hill, Pa., passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on December 23, 1932, the son of the late Franklin Meehan Pinkerton Sr. and Dorothy Snedecker Pinkerton. He was also was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Beyer Pinkerton; three sons, William Pinkerton, Frankie Pinkerton and Thomas Pinkerton; and a sister, Nancy Shanks.

Mr. Pinkerton was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post 7288 of Calabash and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club in Bensalem, Pa., and member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid model railroader and loved to assemble model airplanes. He especially enjoyed taking his 1948 Ford pickup to the car shows.

Surviving are two children, Catherine Ritto, and husband, John, of Henderson, Nev., and Richard Pinkerton and wife, Faith, of Norwood, Pa.; three grandchildren, Alexis, Brittany and Carly Pinkerton of Norwood, Pa.; two brothers, Douglas Pinkerton and David Pinkerton, both of Cape May, N.J.; two sisters, Dorothy Rider of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marjorie Phy of Bath, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
