Marie Louise Hauns Wild, 77, of Wilmington, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Marie was born November 15, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Frank and Helen Hauns. Marie spent many years working as a secretary in the Graduate Studies office at Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. Upon retiring, she volunteered as the secretary in the church office at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Philadelphia.
Upon moving to Wilmington, she taught piano to a few special children before dedicating her life to the care of her mother.

Marie was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, sister and friend. However, her greatest legacy will be that of a grandmother. She was always available to care for her many grandchildren and teach them many of life’s greatest lessons including baking cookies, playing games and watering many of the beautiful flowers in her garden.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Elmer Anthony Wild; four children, Frank Wild (Kathleen) of Collegeville, Pa., Douglas Wild (Dorothy) of Washington, D.C., Nancy Brennan (Kevin) of Wilmington and Helen Hazlett (Robert) of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Witter of Glenside, Pa.; and a brother, Frank Hauns (Linda) of Lancaster, Pa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Andrews Valley Chapel with the Rev. Trish Archer officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
The family would like to thank the many staff members at Lower Cape Fear Hospice who made her last days very peaceful. She also had two caring physicians, Dr. Belinda McPherson and Dr. Kathryn Murphy, who took wonderful care of both Marie and Elmer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401; or to Pine Valley United Methodist Church, Music Program, 3788 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28403.
