Mary Evelyn Parker Simpson Shickert, 87, of Wilmington, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Ashe Gardens Memory Center. Mary was born June 4, 1928, in Pink Hill to the late Wesley and Pearl Tyson Parker. She worked as a personnel leader in the federal government for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, O.J. Simpson and Robert Shickert; daughter, Mona Simpson Ewell; and son, Kevin Simpson.

Survivors include her daughter, Denise Simpson; grandchildren, Courtney Murdock and Carly Dauost; great-grandchild, Olive Murdock; and sister, Frances Outlaw.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Andrews Valley Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Senior Helpers, 2214 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403.
