Gin and juice, anyone?
Iconic rapper Snoop Dogg will be rolling into the Port City to perform during the N.C. Azalea Festival, set for April 7-9.
Friday, festival organizers announced Snoop as the final headlining act for the downtown outdoor concert series, which includes bluegrass band The Avett Brothers and country singer Chase Rice. He’ll take the Belk Main Stage at 411 N. Front St. on Friday, April 8, with opening act Doug E. Fresh.
The former Dr. Dre protégé hit the hip hop scene in the early ’90s, quickly rising to stardom with his drawling, laid-back delivery and freestyle flow.
In addition to a long and successful career in the music industry—a career that has included countless collaborations—Snoop Dogg has ventured in the realm of acting.
“He is a true entrepreneur, starting many ventures, including a YouTube original series, lifestyle products and a non-profit philanthropy teaching positive values to youth,” Azalea Fest president Robby Collins said. “This is going to be an awesome show unlike any other the Azalea Festival has promoted.”
Tickets are $46.50 and go on sale online at 9 a.m. Saturday at www.ncazaleafestival.org.Tickets can be purchased at the Azalea Festival ticket office, 5725 Oleander Drive, Suite B-7, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 7. The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Doors to the standing-room-only show will open at 5 p.m. and the concert gets underway at 7. This is a rain-or-shine event; no ticket refunds will be granted.
