Election season is in full swing in North Carolina, with one-stop absentee voting starting today and ending Saturday, March 12.

In New Hanover County, voters can stop by the Board of Elections Office at the county government center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day from now until March 12, with the except of Sunday, March 6, when the hours are noon to 8 p.m.

On Thursday, people trickled in to the New Hanover County Government Center to cast the first ballots.

“It’s not been as busy as we expected, but it’s been steady,” said Site Coordinator Laura Rogers.

According to Rogers, a little more than 350 people voted at the location as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday. It was the only location to be open before noon.

Additional one-stop voting locations in the county include the Cape Fear Community College Health Sciences in downtown Wilmington, the Northeast Regional Library near Mayfaire, the Senior Resource Center near Hoggard High School and Carolina Beach Town Hall. Hours at those locations are from noon to 8 p.m. March 3 – 11 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. The additional sites will be closed on Sunday, March 6.

In Brunswick County, the Board of Elections office at the government center is open to one-stop voters from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every weekday until March 11. On March 12, they are open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The office is closed March 5 – 6.

Satellite locations in Brunswick County include the Leland Cultural Arts Center and Brunswick Community College. Their hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 3 – 4 and March 7 – 11. On Saturday, March 5, these additional locations will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, March 11, their hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All satellite locations will be closed on Sunday, March 6.

Unexpired out-of-state licenses are acceptable if the voter registered within 90 days of the election.
