Romulus Dean Webb, 77, of Oak Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Wilmington.
Dean was born on June 26, 1938, in Wilson. He worked as a welder at Newport News Shipbuilding before settling in Long Beach in 1971, where he worked at the Brunswick Plant with Brown & Root and later CP&L. He loved to fish, play golf, spend time with his family, and take a nap in his favorite chair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Lester Webb, and Hattie Owens Webb; and his brothers, Rudolph and Dalton.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Ann; daughter, Regina Morrison (Craig) of Sunset Harbor; daughter, Beverly Wescott (Tony) of Newark, Del.; grandson Johnathon Schronce; granddaughters, Jordan Nichole Watson (Dan), Madison Wescott and Alexis Cheatham (Sandy); two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Ayden Cheatham; sisters, Wilma Askew and Connie Simmons; and brother, Gilbert Webb. He also leaves behind many great friends, including golfing and breakfast buddies, John Campbell and Otho Tew.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, at First Baptist Church of Oak Island, with a brief celebration of life service at 2 p.m. Bright colors, especially orange, are encouraged.
