A shooting at a Market Street hotel early Saturday morning sent two 28-year-old men to the hospital.

According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay, police responded to a report of gunfire at the Ramada Inn located at 5001 Market St. at about 2:35 a.m. Saturday.

Arriving officers did not find any of the victims at the scene, but did locate some bullet shell casings behind the hotel, Lindsay said. While investigating, police received a call from New Hanover Regional Medical Center that a gunshot victim had shown up at the hospital and was being treated in the emergency room.

Officers received another report that a second victim of the shooting went to his home in the 700 block of South Eighth Street.  He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by EMS for treatment, Lindsay said. Both victims remained in critical condition at the hospital on Monday. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
