Charlcie Brinkley Fraley, 91, of Wilmington died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born July 20, 1924, in Burgaw, she was the daughter of the late Clyde ‘Fly’ Brinkley and Sarah Willie Bonner Brinkley Barnhill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Fraley Sr., and sister, Ruth Seward.

Charlcie, the matriarch of a very large family, was active with friends and family, a member of the Cape Fear Country Club, played Bridge and Mahjong with friends, and loved to entertain – especially her grandchildren, who found her energy and love of life very endearing.

Surviving are her son, Raymond W. Fraley Jr. and wife Debbie of Fayetteville, Tenn.;  daughter, Sarah Jean (Susie) Fraley of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, Scott Eubank, Willene Fontaine, Will Eubank, Nici Fraley Pechman, Will Fraley, Gus Fraley and Carolina Fraley; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Eston Brinkley of Fort Fisher; and six loving nephews and nieces and their children.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 29, at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church, Scotts Hill, at the corner of Sidbury Road and Highway 17 North. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
