Philip Dunn Von Blond Jr., 45, of Oak Island, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016, following a short illness. Philip was passionate about music, especially the Grateful Dead and its ensuing incantations; art, especially Spustra; golf; fishing; and hunting.

He is survived by his mother, Betsy Von Blond of Oak Island; his father, Philip D. Von Blond Sr. (Ann Farrell Hughes) of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Elizabeth Von Blond (Greg Talbert); nephew, Hayden Talbert of Columbus; his son, Fisher McClain of Oak Island; stepsister, Sarah Hughes of Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepbrother, George Hughes of Alameda, Calif.; aunts, Mary Lamb Lucas and Antoinette Morrison (Holmes Morrison); six cousins; his many friends; and his four-legged companion, Roscoe.

His body has been cremated, and there will be a memorial service in Lewisburg, W.Va., at a later date.

The family wishes to give thanks to the staff of New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Lower Cape Fear Hospice and special thanks to Mary McClain.
