An artist is no longer present. Edwin Joseph “Bud” Wright Jr., 68, died on Sunday, February 21, 2016, after a mercifully short battle with an unusually aggressive cancer.

He was born in Battle Creek, Mich., on September 12, 1947, and was 68 years old. Following a long and distinguished career as a commercial filmmaker and documentarian with Lawrence Productions in Michigan, he retired to Topsail Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. and Anna Maria (Mary), and by his treasured brother, Henry. He is survived by five loving siblings, Maryann, Frances, Michael, Valerie and Janet. He entrusts to you his children and their families, Tim (Alex) Garcia-Wright of New York, N.Y., Mark (Jessica) Wright of Hampstead, and Megan Minah Wright of Chicago, Ill.

Since his time in the Navy, it was his deepest desire to be lulled every evening by the sound of rolling waves only to be roused the next morning by the happy calamities of frolicking grandchildren. Jackson Carter Wright and Lucille Soleil Wright made his dream a reality.

A visitation is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, at Andrews Mortuary in Hampstead. His funeral will occur at 11:45 a.m. on Monday, February 29, at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
