George Albert Lossen Jr., 72, retired carpenter and hunter

George Albert Lossen Jr., of Leland, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was the son of the late George Albert Lossen Sr., and Mary Godwin Lossen.

He worked for a number of years at E.L. Dupont for Daniels Construction Company.  He was a retired carpenter and enjoyed doing anything with wood; he also loved to hunt. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elaine Lossen; and his sister, Katie Lossen Osborne.

He is survived by his sons, George Albert Lossen III, and his fiance, Tina Beane, of Winnabow, and Anthony Carl Lossen, and his companion, Alison Robinson, of Leland; sister, Signe Lossen Blanton (Jimmie) of Leland; brother, Thomas Godwin Lossen (Barbara) of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Anthony Carl Lossen Jr. and George Albert Lossen IV; great-grandchildren, Bella Michele Lossen and Emma Jane Lossen; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a very special friend and companion, Brenda Long; and good friends, Mike Thomas and Roger Garst.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 22, in Bellevue Cemetery with a visitation immediately following the service.
