Patricia “Patsy” King Dechent, 69, of Wilmington passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter with her family at her side. Patsy was born in Durham, NC on March 18, 1946.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Patrick and Irene McGrit King; and infant son, Thurston C. Davis III.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Claude “L.C.” Dechent Jr., two daughters, Tina Davis Anderson, and husband, Andy, of Goose Creek, S.C., and Kelly Davis Schwartzel of Leland; grandchildren, Caitlin Anderson, Rachel Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Abbott Schwartzel and Campbell Schwartzel.

Patsy retired as a registered nurse after 46 years of caring for others. She provided care at Wilmington SurgCare, New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Cape Fear Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Patsy was a longtime member of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon as well as the chair of several committees.

She made a lasting difference in every life she touched, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, with a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1416 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
