Rena Frances Naylor Long, 89, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Sampson County, on July 21, 1926, daughter of Edgar and Ila Aman Naylor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Long Jr.; two sisters, Mary Naylor Dew and Blanche Naylor Bayne; a brother, Garvice Washington Naylor; a niece, Edna Naylor Crumpler; and a nephew, John Henry Bayne Jr.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, A.Z. Naylor of Charlotte, G.W. Naylor of Concord, Roy Dew of Tar Heel, Rachel Dew Freeman of Fayetteville, Marcus Edward Dew of North Wilkesboro, Ila Amelia Bayne of Wilmington, and Edgar Scott Bayne of Wilmington; 12 grand-nieces and nephews; a faithful friend, Faye Marshall; a sister-in-law, Freddie Hobbs; and a host of great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Frances was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church for over 40 years and very active in the Winsome Sunday School class and the activities of the Senior Members of her church. She enjoyed trips with her niece and time at the beach with her family. Her home was always stocked with candy treats for visitors and peanuts for feeding the squirrels.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Lake Forest Baptist Church. Deacon Clegie Chambers and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Benton will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. Friday until the service hour. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
