Judith Roberta Swadel, 72, of Kure Beach, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016, at her home. Judith was a resident of Sterling, Massachusetts, for most of her adult life.

She was born on March 11, 1943, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Robert Duncan Swadel and Anne McNeil Hope Swadel.

Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Anne Hope Swadel Marvin, and brother-in-law, Timothy H. Marvin.

For her niece and nephews, Judy was a beloved aunt and “second mom.” She will be missed by Elizabeth Hope Marvin Brame (J.A.), Timothy M. Marvin (Ellen), and Bruce King Marvin (Janet).

The children loved “Aunt Judy,” enjoying beach and pool time. She was a tough opponent at Sorry and Monopoly and gave no mercy. Scott, JayJay, Sadee and Isla will miss her hugs.

After 47 years as part of the J.A. Webster Patterson team, Judy enjoyed her retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Red Sox Nation and an avid Patriots fan. Her spirit will be with us as we gather at “the purple house” or cheer on her teams.

Service arrangements will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
